Comcast Cable TV Promotions

by Rachel Smith

If you’re trying to decide whether to get a cable TV subscription or a satellite TV subscription, you need to be armed with the facts about both types of technology. After all, there’s been a lot of propaganda on both sides that makes the case for each side being the better choice. Facts about the technology are the only way to cut through all of that propaganda.

Historically speaking, cable is the older technology. Communications cables were carrying telegraph messages across the bottom of the ocean decades before anyone had even come up with the idea of the communications satellite. Cable TV has been around longer too, at least in a form that’s accessible to the average American consumer. Cable TV has a longer proven track record of giving American TV viewers what they want in terms of channel selection and service.

Each technology has several advantages over the other, and it’s important to have an idea of what those advantages are. Cable TV has the advantage of being more reliable in the sense that it isn’t disrupted by weather related interference nearly as easily as satellite signals are. In fact, a heavy rain can ruin satellite TV signals, but it would take an earthquake or a flood to knock out cable TV service!

Another major advantage of cable TV is that it can carry information both to the viewer and allow the viewer to transmit information back to the broadcast center, while satellite TV is only set up to deliver information from the transmitter to the viewer. This is very significant in a number of different ways. First of all, it allows cable TV providers to offer high speed Internet service. Internet access allows the user to request web pages and other documents, as well as transmit emails and other information, after all. The cable TV industry is also taking advantage of this feature in order to provide video on demand service. Video on demand technology lets the viewer control what she or he watches at any given moment. Rather than wait around for a TV show, movie, or sporting event to start, video on demand lets the user select what he or she wants to watch and then the cable TV company streams that program directly to the viewer immediately and without any waiting. This is likely to make a big diference in how the cable TV industry delivers it’s content as time goes on.

The cable TV industry is also using the two way information transmitting capability of cable technology to get around the limitations on how many channels it can transmit. In the past, the number of channels that a cable TV company can provide has always been limited by the number of channels that a cable can carry. Now, a new technology called switched digital video makes it possible for a TV receiver to send a request for a specific channel to the transmission center. The transmission center then transmits that channel- and just that channel- to the viewer. This allows more total channels to be available because only one channel is transmitted to a viewer at a time. Since satellite TV doesn’t have this capability, it can’t transmit as many channels.

All of this translates into the fact that cable TV is the superior choice of technology.

Comcast Is A Contender Among Modern TV Service Providers

by Rachel Smith

If you’ve been thinking that satellite TV is the only way to go in order to get a lot of different channels and modern TV technology, then you’ve obviously succumbed to the propaganda of the satellite TV companies.

In fact, the latest cable TV technology has a lot of features that will rival what satellite TV has to offer, and Comcast is one of the companies that takes advantage of this new technology.

Comcast provides an alternative to satellite TV for a lot of different people because it gives you a lot of what satellite TV offers, only it does an even better job of providing it. For example, Comcast’s signal is one hundred percent digital, which means that you’ll be able to enjoy a crisp, clear picture on your TV set and get the best digital quality sound- just like from a CD.

Along with the high quality picture and sound, digital TV also makes it possible to include an on screen program guide feature and parental controls.

Both the on screen program guide and the parental controls are software that will help you manage all of the programming coming into your home. The on screen program guide will allow you to read up on all of the different TV shows that are being shown on all of the different channels that are coming into your home.

You’ll be able to see what each program is about, when it was made, and who stars in it. You’ll even be able to get this information in advance of when each programs starts so you don’t have to miss any of the program while you’re making your decision. It’s a much better way to see what’s on TV and decide what you want to watch than haphazard channel surfing. Parental Controls will allow you to make rules about what your children can watch and then get your TV receiver to enforce those rules. That way you can let your kids watch TV even when you’re not around and have confidence that they won’t get into anything that you don’t approve of.

These features are included in all of Comcast’s programming packages, but the need to keep track of what’s available to watch- as well as what your kids can and can’t get into when you aren’t looking- is a valuable option to have if you get some of the larger programming packages. For example, Comcast’s Platinum Plus package has over two hundred and seventy five channels! You can also opt for the Gold Plus package, the Silver Plus package, the Digital Classic Package, or the Enhanced Cable package. Enhanced Cable is a very affordable programming package, but it’s by no means bare bones. In fact, the Enhanced cable package has all of the basic features that’s available on each of Comcast’s programming packages. That’s because, you’ll get a digital TV receiver, all of your local channels, access to Comcast’s On Demand pay per view service, and forty five channels of digital music. On Demand takes advantage of video on demand technology to bring you all of the latest movies when you want them and on your own terms.

With all of these features, it’s pretty obvious that Comcast is a serious contender for the business of the modern TV viewer.

Dedicated Hosting Providers and Their Services

by Johnson

Individuals can put up their own website on the Web with help of an Internet Service Provider, referred to as web hosting. A dedicated web hosting or managed web hosting is a form of internet hosting, wherein the client leases the entire server that is not shared with anyone. Usually, ISP provides a limited amount of free web hosting space on their server as a package deal and they normally don’t provide web hosting control panel also to manage the web hosting ac thus they don’t fit to everyone’s need.

An alternative to dedicated hosting provider is a co location. It is more flexible as compared to shared web hosting. Clients need to have their own server, but the service providers provide a location along with an Internet connection. When a customer purchases shared web hosting they are on the same web server as hundreds and sometimes thousands of other websites.

Dedicated hosting involves leasing an entire server offering choices of software, scripting languages and the appropriate hardware needed for the website. The hosting company also provides server administration in the form of add on service Dedicated hosting is preferable for large businesses or clients who not only need professional assistance for their needs, but also are also willing to pay more.

When looking at hosting packages there are two major areas you should be concerned with managed or unmanaged servers and hardware configurations. No doubt that dedicated hosting is expensive, but the advantages may outweigh the expenses. A dedicated server would offer larger return on investment and less overhead. It provides customized services and eliminates the hassles of worrying about hardware issues and troubleshooting.

Before choosing a dedicated hosting company, it is suggested to consider what is offered in terms of hardware, as well as software. Dedicated hosting packages allow you to have multiple websites on one server; at no extra charge to the customer, variations of Linux are often included. The primary consideration is uptime including servers, power backup, type of OS and the control panel, which is used to access controls to the website. The next thing you have to consider is hardware for the machine, what size disks you will need, how fast your processor has to be, how much bandwidth you need and so on. Uptime is the duration of time for which the website is up and running. It is normally expressed in percentage.

Dramatically Improve Search Engine Rankings - 3 Ways (Part 2)

by Steve Mitchell

Following on from Part 1, here is Part 2 of ‘3 Ways To Dramatically Improve Search Engine Rankings’ I have a simple 3-Stage Approach to getting ranked high in the search engines. Here, in Part 2, is my second Stage…

Stage 2. Get Your Website Seen:

If you goal is to get placed high up the search engine rresults (as it should be!) then you need to get the search services to ’see you’. This sounds an obvious statement but few people really think it through that much. In a nutshell, and avoiding all the techie jargon, search engines really want to find you, or more specifically your website. When someone types in a ’search query’ they are looking for some information. If your website is relevant to the information which is being searched for (we’ll talk about this later), then the search engines are very keen to link the person searching with your website, which they do with the search results the search engine discovers.

The key then, knowing the search engines really want to find your website, is to set up your website in such a way as to make it be easily found by the search engines. The way you do this is to adopt some basic, but very important ‘optimisation’ tricks on your website - what is called ‘on page optimisation’.

The interesting thing is, even though it’s really important to do what I’m about to share with you, the on-page optimisation’ methods only really are about 15% of what contributes towards your search results ranking. The 85% of where you figure in search results is dependant on the ‘off-page optimisation’ which I’ll cover in stage 3. Nevertheless, even though ‘on-page optimisation’ only contributes 15% towards how you get ranked, its still very important to do these basic but key steps:

a) Ensure your keyword(s) appear in your pages ‘Title tag’ of the header code of your website (if you’re not sure what this is, ask someone to show you who does know - it’s that important). This is vital because it is one of the key things that search engines are looking for - matching the words the searcher types into their search (the keywords) with the title of a website, which in turn should be relevant to the search query. You can take this a stage further by adding in a description in the ‘meta description tag’ again incorporating your keywords, and then the ‘meta keywords tag’ which simply includes all your keywords, comma separated.

The search engines don’t put so much relevancy these days on the description or keyword tags, but they’re worth doing either way, but it’s vital you include your keywords in the Title tag.

b) Make the webpage you are pointing the keyword towards relevant to that keyword. In other words don’t have a keyword like ‘dog training tips’ and then have a webpage all about horses, cats, dogs and loads of other animals with little specific relevancy to dogs or dog training - make sure the webpage is relevant to your keyword.

c) Build into your website a simple Sitemap. Understand that the way search engines search the web is they look for (crawl) words and phrases in all the code of your website - they don’t understand pretty pictures, graphics, flash animations, etc - all they want to find is words and phrases relevant to want the searcher is looking for. So make it simpe for the search engines to ’see’ your web site when it looks for those key words and phrases. One way to do this and make it easier for the search engines to find the info they want is by incorporating a simply site map within your website. Again, if this doesn’t make sense to you, ask your webmaster about it.

Don’t Forget About Storage Costs

by Ada Denis

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been in a meeting where the issue of storage costs comes up. What always surprises me is the laissez-faire attitude toward storage costs…”Storage is cheap and getting cheaper” some businessperson will say. And, for the most part, everyone else just nods their heads.

It’s the easy way to dodge a tough issue. Who wants to argue with the truth; in fact, the per GB cost of storage is decreasing and will continue to do so. But, what no one talks about is that the amount of information being created that needs to be stored is growing exponentially, and probably at a larger clip than the decrease in storage costs.

Thus, in relative terms, the cost of storing information continues to be the same, if not more, despite lower storage costs - especially for all those organizations still sadly stuck in the “retain everything” mode.

Talk to your infrastructure and operations professionals…these folks know that it costs big money to store all an organization’s information assets. These are the folks that roll their eyes when they hear everyone else talk about how cheap storage is getting.

And, these are the folks that must bend over backwards when that discovery request comes in and forces them to restore the cheap backup tapes (at close to $2,500 per tape), or gather the 100 GB of information off cheap storage (which then has to be processed at a cost of about $2,000 per GB). For these professionals, the cost of cheap storage comes in lost man-hours; for their organizations, the cost of cheap storage is born in too expensive eDiscovery.

I won’t argue that storage, in general, is being commoditized. But, that doesn’t mean we can just shrug off the cost. Because we continue to create more and more information, that relative cost of storage stays the same or rises.

The solution lies in creating policies that allow for the disposition of information and putting in place an infrastructure that allows an organizations to put the information it keeps on the cheapest storage possible, get rid of what it doesn’t need, and have the tools in place to conduct efficient eDiscovery.

Comcast Pushes Cable TV Technology Ahead

by Rachel Smith

If you haven’t been paying attention to TV technology lately, you’ve been missing some pretty impressive developments and the cable TV provider, Comcast, can bring them all to you. One of the most radical advances in TV technology in the past couple of decades- but the one that probably gets the least recognition- is digital TV.

With digital TV, the picture and sound of TV are converted into ones and zeros that can be transmitted over a wire or over the air and then converted back into the TV picture and sound by a digital TV tuner.

The fact that the signal is all digital makes it very easy for the tuner to separate interference from the actual television signal, and that in turn allows the tuner to clean up the signal and produce a very crisp, clear, and clean picture as well as sound that can then be delivered through the TV.

Another benefit of digital TV that Comcast takes advantage of it the fact that when TV programming is delivered digitally, a variety of other information can also be delivered along with it. This information, which is commonly called meta-information, can be used to assemble an on screen program guide and can be used by parental control software to determine whether or not the program is suitable for a household’s children. Both of these are features that Comcast offers to its subscribers.

The on screen program guide is sure to save time and energy while avoiding the frustration of clicking up and down the channels in order to see what’s on and decide what to watch. (This can be a real life saver when you look at the fact that Comcast can offer over two hundred and seventy five channels in its largest programming package.) Comcast’s parental control software is just as valuable because it allows you to make the rules about what your children can and can’t watch. Once you’ve made those rules, the software will then look at the meta-information of the programs that are about to come on the screen and then block any of them that break your rules. This provides real peace of mind for parents everywhere, and best of all it works with teenagers as well as with toddlers.

Of course Comcast also provides a lot of other types of advanced technology with its digital cable TV service. For example, it also provides HDTV. HDTV is a high resolution, wide screen version of digital TV that was designed to provide a cost effective way to get the same quality viewing experience that you’d get in a real movie theater.

While HDTV was designed to show movies, it’s also very good for enjoying everything from news programming and programming about personal hobbies to sports and educational programming.

Video on demand is another cutting edge technology that Comcast can provide for you. Video on demand will allow you to enjoy things like recently released movies through the ON DEMAND pay per view service and special content from some of the best sources of programming through a special subscription service called Premium On Demand.

These are just a few of the ways that Comcast provides you with lots of the latest technology.

Comcast Outperforms Other Companies

by Rachel Smith

If you want to save money while getting all of the home telecommunications services that you need, you’ll want to take a good look at your cable TV company. That’s because if that company is anything like Comcast, then you’ll be able to get your TV service, high speed Internet access, and home phone line all from one company. This is even more convenient because when services are bundled together like this they all appear on the same bill and most companies that do this will give you a discount on the bundled services. Comcast definitely will.

The bundling of telecommunications services is also a good policy for the company that provides it. The primary benefit is that it maintains plenty of business for those companies.

Unfortunately, bundled services don’t always work out as well as you might want them to. That’s because there are a lot of different companies that are trying to get on board with this marketing scheme and not all of them are as well equipped to provide their services as Comcast is! The main problem is that phone companies and satellite TV companies are trying to get on the bandwagon with this form of marketing and they simply aren’t as versatile as the cable technology that Comcast provides.

For example, it’s relatively easy for a company like Comcast to offer cable TV, home phone service, and high speed Internet service. It started out with TV obviously, and has upgraded that particular service to provide hundreds of channel along with various Video On Demand services, Digital Video Recording, HDTV, and more. From there it was relatively easy for Comcast to expand into high speed Internet service. After all, digital TV is all about moving lots of data extremely quickly, and that’s really all that’s required for a fast Internet connection. The phone service was easy to add on top of that because telephone technology is extremely well established and just isn’t that tough to implement.

By comparison all of the phone companies and satellite TV companies that are trying to offer these three services really aren’t finding it that easy to do so. That’s because while they may have a good deal of expertise in their own field, they just don’t have that much capability in the others. For example, satellite technology may be okay for TV, but it’s a poor choice for Internet and phone because of the built in lag time. Phone lines do an okay job for transmitting conversations, but they simply don’t have enough bandwidth for a really good, high speed Internet connection, and they’re even worse when it comes to transmitting TV over them.

Because of these shortcomings, satellite TV companies and phone companies often offer bundled services that they then outsource to each other. For example, when you take a phone company up on its offer for TV service, you’ll often be getting satellite TV. This still leads to some major shortcomings of service and doesn’t provided that much reliability. For one thing, since there’s more than one company involved, there’s the chance that your service issues could be passed back and forth between the two companies and never really get solved. Comcast makes it easier to get results because there’s no one else to blame for an issue.

With all of these advantages of Comcast, it’s a good choice for bundled service packages.

Once a person finds your site encourage him to tell his friends with a “tell friends about this site” button. When a customer clicks on it they will email their friends and encourage them to come visit your site. People always trust a friend more than an advertisement.

Top - Article Directories

by article24

Finding the right freelance writer to produce your revenue generating articles can take a bit of time, however, if you find one that can easily take on another regular client and the two of you work well together, then that one difficult search will turn into a lot of profitable articles.

Although this can sometimes be the only option for those who are running on a non-existent budget, it is not a way that will effectively build your website or revenue. There are a few potential reasons why this may be detrimental to your business building efforts.

To find a freelance writer, you can look at various freelancing websites that will allow you to post the specification of your project and your budget.

From there, writers will make bids on your project and provide you with writing samples so that you can get an idea of their skill level. Make sure that you choose a writer who gives you a sample of the type of article that you are looking for. For example, if you are looking for a copy-writer, do not hire someone who only sent you a sports writing sample. He or she may be an outstanding sports writer, but copy-writing is about selling (a product, service, or yourself) to your website visitors.

Problem #3 - Author Bylines Most free content is only given to you if you agree to place the authors byline under the article (you can get into trouble if you try to use it without following the stipulated rules). This poses a problem because most author bylines include links. When a reader gets done reading a really intriguing article, there is a strong possibility that they will click on the author’s byline link rather than your affiliate links. This is the entire reason why these authors offer free content to begin with, so that they may get their name and links out there to the public. Using this type of content may mean shooting yourself in the foot and losing possible profitable website visitors. Once you put these three problems together, you are looking at a serious decline in revenue simply because you used free website content from article directories. Although it may be the only option for some, if you have the funds to buy your own original content, then you should go this route. If you don’t have the finds, however, you may be better off writing your own content and then hiring professional services once you have made a profit to work with.
