Know The Five Basic Elements In Building A Hovercraft

by Rashel Dan

What is a hovercraft and how do you make one? A hovercraft is a platform vehicle that glides with air cushion. Simply put, instead of wheels, the principles of physics and fluid mechanics are used. Not as simple as it sounds? But really it is simple. In building a hovercraft, you don’t have to worry about the applied science that it adheres into. You just need to know the three basic things.

Simply put, it means that you’ll be using three major elements and put them together to make a hovercraft. These three major elements are:

1. Platform or hoverboard

3. The Skirt

3. Air vents

Once you have all the three parts ready to put them together. But first, it is important to know why these parts are important.

The platform part of the hovercraft is where you’re supposed to sit. This is the vehicle. For the board to fly and glide, its surface area facing the ground should bear enough air cushion to support it. Building a hovercraft requires you to allow that pressurized air to reside underneath that platform. To do that, you should bore strategic holes in it to cause a thick air film to build below.

Molecules of air are more spacious and loose than liquid and therefore disperse faster. To create the cushion of air, it should be controlled below the hoverboard. This means there should be a means to trap the air temporarily to build enough pressure to lift a weight up. This air trap design is called a skirt. This is the most important element in building a hovercraft. It delays the release of air thus creating a lift.

The air vent is the third major part of the hovercraft. These are simply holes on the platform. This should allow air to pass through. Part of building a hovercraft is the installation of fans. A fan builds a gush of concentrated air. The put that air power to productive use, you need to place them in the best strategic place where the vents are. The vents will lead the air underneath the platform surface thus building cushion.

Other things you may add to your hovercraft are:

- The Propellers – In a standard commercial hovercraft, propellers are usually the big fan you see attached behind the craft. Bigger units have more propeller fans.

- Rudder – It’s that thin vertical panel closely placed beside the propeller. It functions like those in airplanes for maneuvering.

The last two are simply added features which a hovercraft can do without. Especially if you want a hovercraft that seriously gets you places quicker, you need to have huge propeller fans and rudder. The latter allows you to steer the direction of your hovercraft. If you only opt to have a simple ride in your backyard or lawn, don’t fancy it too much. The three elements above should do fine.

As long as your ship lifts up and can carry your weight, then you got the specs right. If you got kids at home, you can take turns in riding the homemade hovercraft and push it to move forward. That should be more fun than the propeller and rudder installed. So when you get all these things in building a hovercraft project done, you should be ready to go.

Check out Your Employees Before they start Working for You

by Simon M Skinner

How many times have you hired someone and regretted it? Sometimes you need more than a resume. It can tell you quite a bit about a person’s career. A resume also tells you what computer programs a person can run and how many years they were on a job. What it doesn’t tell you, is the kind of person they are and if they have ever committed a crime.

There are companies that have hired badly and those people have (on rare occasions) come back and have brought their automatic rifles with them. We have all seen the new stories. Nowadays employers are worried about letting people go, because they simply cannot trust that this person wont return witha gun some time in the future!

Reliable and up to date information about a prospective employees history is very helpful in making the decision as to whether to employ them. A background check of an employee could save a lot of trouble for your business in the future. I

MacDataAdvantage.com can help you find out the background information that you need before you decide whether to employ an individual. Your company relies on security and it is in the best interests of the firm to run secure background checks on any potential workers.

However the choice is completely yours to make, you do not have to run a background check but why would you not want to protect your colleagues and your company?

When it comes to background checks there are a few options to choose from:

A criminal background search or even a social security check. Both of these background checks are completely legal and will give in-depth information in order to help you to decide whether an employee is right for you. Particularly if the employee will be dealing with the public or handling large amounts of cash.

If you are a landlord and rent apartments or homes, then there are also tenant screenings that you can conduct. The tenant screening allows you to verify addresses that a tenant has put on an application for rental property. It also verifies their name, credit history and checks to see if that person has any liens against them.

The tenant screening will certainly help you protect who you rent your property to. Would you, by choice rent to someone on the National Sex Offender list?

The tenant screening will also confirm that the person is who they say they are.
