The keyboard has been reconfigured to save space, eliminating separate function keys, and setting F1-F10 as secondary functions on the middle line of keys (a through ;) accessed by pressing an Fn key.

The system details for the Mini 9 are slightly different for American and European purchasers, specifically differences in the RAM size available in different options, and connectivity options differ. In the American version, for instance, Bluetooth is optional, in the European version, it is standard. Both versions come with the option of either Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux operating system.

One great benefit is that both models are available in an assortment of eight different colors.

Inspiron offers a medium size version in the 1535 model, recently introduced to the public in June of 2008. The 1535 is a version upgraded from the 1525. This in turn is an upgraded 1520 and 1521. You may know the 1535 by the Dell Studio Laptop. It is similar to the 1525 in its size and weight of 5.9 pounds. Its dimensions are 14.05″ x 10.08″ x 1.00″. The 1420 and1420 N were the smallest models available before the Mini 9 the most recent release. The 1420 and1420 N both feature a 14.1 inch display with a resolution of up to 1440×900 with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with up to 2.4 GHz.
